Winter 2013 Anime

With the new year and the new anime season coming up, there's a lot to look forward to. Now, this season is extremely unique, with it's extreme amount of second/third/etc. seasons of various anime, as well as a couple of new ones. To be honest, I'm not as much excited for this season as I was for the last, but there are still plenty of new anime to be excited about.
The chart can be found here:
Winter 2013 Anime Chart

If a series is not included in this list, it means I either am not interested in it or I forgot about it.

I'll list them in order of interest:

Chihayafuru 2

Synopsis:
Continuation of the first season.

Opinion:
Chihayafuru was an anime that managed to keep my interest even though I started watching the series knowing absolutely nothing about karuta. I loved the characters, the suspense of the sport, the bits of romance, everything basically. Plus, last season ended in a way that made me want to see more, so hearing about this new season was definitely good news for me.

Tamako Market

Synopsis:
Tamako is a mochi-loving high-school freshman whose family runs a mochi (rice cake) shop in a certain town's shoppingdistrict. She enjoys her high school life with her friends Midori and Kanna in the badminton club. She also helps out at her family's shop and develops new mochi.

Opinion:
I'll admit, as silly as this show looks, I'm looking forward to it quite a lot. I mean, I loved both of KyoAni's new anime this year, so I kind of have pretty high expectations for this series.

Hetalia: The Beautiful World

Synopsis:
The fifth season of Hetalia.

Opinion:
Though I haven't seen Hetalia World Series yet, I'm still planning on marathoning it to be up to date with this series. The first season was absolutely hilarious, and surprisingly, very much educational. There aren't many anime like it, so of course I'm looking forward to it.

Sasami-san@Ganbaranai

Synopsis:
The story follows a hikikomori named Sasami who is unmotivated about even changing clothes or eating. Her brother takes care of her, even though she despises his slave-like nature. Sasami spends her days viewing the outside world via a "Brother Surveillance Tool" on her computer. In the outside world, the three beautiful Yagami sisters and Sasami's brother are in the middle of relationships worthy of a romantic comedy.

Opinion:
I've seen the previews, and I must say that this anime looks extremely unique. I love the art style already, it feels like you're in a story book. The characters also look interesting, particularly Kagami Yagami (best name ever).

Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman

Synopsis:
The story takes place in Kyoto in the late 19th century. Manjiro has two faces. During the day, he works as a helper for people in Kyoto, but he also acts in secret to get back people's properties from the men in power. As the get-backer "Roman," Manjiro is getting involved in a nationwide conspiracy.

Opinion:
I didn't know anything about this series until a couple of days ago, but from what I've heard, it sounds pretty damn interesting. He's Mr.Helpful by day and Robinhood by night? Yes, please!

Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru

Synopsis:
Eita enters high school aiming for the National University School of Medicine. Because of his parents' divorce—and his goal—he shuns anything to do with romance or love. One day, Masuzu, the school beauty with the silver hair who has just returned to the country, enters his life in a most unexpected way. Chiwa, his childhood friend since elementary school, will not let this go without a fight.

Opinion:
I love romantic comedies, the whole idea of childhood friend vs. school beauty may have been done many, many, many times, but hey, it works.  I also like how the guy tries to avoid romance, so I think that it'll be a cute romance series.

AKB0048 Next Stage

Synopsis:
Second part of AKB0048.

Opinion:
I marathoned the first season of this series a couple of weeks ago, and I really liked it. The adorable (and colorful) animation, the music, the characters, they were all good. I'd like to see what they can possibly do in this sequel that can amount to the first season, because it was really good.

Amnesia

Synopsis:
On the morning of August 1, the heroine wakes up and discovers she has absolutely no memories of the past. A boy appears before her, and introduces himself as a "spirit" named Orion. The heroine struggles to regain her memories under the guidance of Orion. She then gets a phone call, but she does not recognize the name on her mobile phone screen. She meets her apparent "boyfriend," despite not knowing his face.

Opinion:
Though I'm not the biggest fan of otome game adaptations, I have to admit that the concept for this one sounds really interesting. So long as its done right, I think this can be a very interesting series.

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

Synopsis:
After a long and treacherous journey, our Hero finally arrives at the Dark Lady's castle only to find himself being asked for help. The Hero explains how the war that the demons have brought upon the humans have killed thousands and put more in misery. The queen of demons however argues that this war has made the human society band together as one and showed empirical evidence how it has increased population, increased production, boosted economy and improved society overall. Furthermore, she explains to the Hero that ending this war will result in a civil war that will produce more bloodshed than there ever was. The Hero, convinced that the only way to bring peace, relatively speaking, is to join forces with the Dark Lady, agrees to help with her plans!

Opinion:
I like the idea very much, and it has a lot of potential. I also like the fact that none of the characters have actual names, they're just mere titles.

Cuticle Detective Inaba

Synopsis:
Private Detective Hiroshi Inaba is an artificially-created being, formed by splicing the genes of both a human and a wolf, who gains information by tasting and examining people's hair, and pretty much has a hair fetish. He can transform into a more wolf-like form, and also gain special powers and perform different attacks depending on the type or colour of hair he eats. Formerly employed by the police and partnered with an officer, he now runs his own private detective agency with the help of his sadistic, cross-dressing secretary Yuuta (often mistaken for a girl), and Kei (a *relatively* normal teenager working part-time at the office. Ogino, the officer formerly partnered with Hiroshi, also often helps out with cases. His arch-enemy is Don Valentino, an evil mastermind goat with a taste (literally) for money, and a variety of messed up but extremely devoted henchman, including gentleman samurai Laurence, who always wears a bag over his head. Most chapters are individual stories revolving around Hiroshi and his friends trying to arrest the Don, always failing miserably.

Opinion:
It looks weird as hell, and I really like those kinds of shows.

Vividred Operation

Synopsis:
An original sci-fi action anime featuring a 14-year-old girl. The story takes place in a peaceful island filled with nature and technology.

Opinion:
Though not much is said in the description, I've seen the previews, and they've got me a bit interested this show. Though, I know that there definitely gonna be ecchi in this because the director also did Strike Witches.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Next

Synopsis:
The second season of Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.

Opinion:
I really didn't expect this series to get a sequel, but hearing about it was pretty good news. The show may not be excellent, but it was definitely entertaining, and who knows, maybe some crazy development will happen to make the show even better than last season.

Love Live!: School Idol Project

Synopsis:

The story is set in Tokyo, where an old school right in between the neighborhoods of Akihabara, Kanda and Jinbocho is in danger of consolidation and closure.

Nine girls, centering Honoka Kosaka, have stepped up to defy the imminent danger facing their school.

Hoping against hope there's something they can do about this, the girls strive to become famous, spread the word about their school, attract more students, and save the day.
Now their “School Idol Project” begins to make their dreams come ture!

Opinion:
Two idol series coming out in the same season is almost unheard of, but still, the plot sounds cute, and I'm quite fond of music shows, so I'll give it a shot.

Yama no Susume

Synopsis:
The title tells the story of the childhood friends Aoi, a girl who prefers staying inside and who has acrophobia, and Hinata, a girl who loves mountains. The two decide to climb a mountain in order to once again see the morning sun from its peak as they did when they were young.

Opinion:
I love the visuals, but I'm a little worried that this show will be another of those cases where a good or cute concept will turn into a completely boring show. But who knows, maybe this'll be really good.

Hakkenden: Touhou Hakken Ibun

Synopsis:
Five years ago, almost every villager of Ootsuka died due to a tragic plague. But mysteriously enough, three survivors: a girl and two boys, emerged. Now living in a church, the three live in isolation, hidden from those who may seek to find them. Shino, one of the survivors, has control over the power of Murasame, the blade of life. But when the imperial church seeks to take the Murasame for themselves, their peaceful life becomes a thing of the past...

Opinion:
A good reverse harem is extremely difficult to pull off, though the plot for this one sounds really good, I'm still unsure as to how this show will go about it.

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo?

Synopsis:
Izayoi Sakamaki, Asuka Kudou, and You Kasugabe have tremendous psychic powers and are bored with the regular world. An envelope arrives for each person, and when each opens their envelope, they are stunned to see the scenery around them change to a world they had never encountered before. They've been summoned by the Black Rabbit to help the community "No Name" to overthrow the Devil King.

Opinion:
Though the concept sounds interesting enough, I can't help but wonder if this series will be crazy or silly or both.

Kotoura-san

Synopsis:
A school love comedy. Kotoura Haruka is a 15-year-old girl who can read people's minds. She has been suffering from troubles caused by her mind-reading ability, and her parents got divorced as a result. She moves to a new high school but tries to keep away from her classmates. Manabe Yoshihisa, one of her classmates, accepts and appreciates her ability and she begins to interact with her friends with his help.

Opinion:
I don't really have any especially high expectations for this show, from what I've seen in the previews, it looks cute and a bit interesting, but I sense no potential masterpieces here.

Mangirl!

Synopsis:
Girls without any manga editing experience launch a new manga magazine.

Opinion:
I was surprised to find out that this wasn't a show about traps. This is one of those shows that can either be really funny or really dumb. Regardless, I'll probably watch it, because each episode is only five minutes, and the animation reminds me a lot of Yuru Yuri.

Puchimas!: Petit iDOLM@STER

Synopsis:
One day, 765 Pro idols Ami and Mami bring in the mysterious Petit-dols "Afuu" and "Yukipo"!? More and more Petit-dols gather at the offices where everyone works. Leisurely enjoy their daily lives full of laughs and happenings.

Opinion:
The iDOLM@STER has way too many spin-offs, but I've read bits and pieces of the manga for this. It's cute, it'll make you chuckle, but that's about it.

Senran Kagura

Synopsis:
TV anime project of Marvelous AQL's action game series Senran Kagura.

Opinion:
Normally I'd dismiss just about every action ecchi series that would come about. This would've been the same case, had there not been so many voice actresses that I liked in it! I mean Yuu Kobayashi is in it, as well as Ai Kayano, Asami Imai, Ryoko Shiraishi, Eri Kitamura, Kaori Mizuhashi, as well as many others. That alone is a ood enough reason for me to watch it.

Ai Mai Mi

Synopsis:
The story follows girls in a manga club —Ai, Mai, Mii, and Ponoka-sempai—who might be fighting evil invaders threatening Earth, facing off against rivals in tournaments, and dealing with other absurd situations when they are not drawing manga.

Opinion:
This sounds a bit too strange, but regardless, I'll give it a chance, since the same studio made Recorder to Randoseru, and I really liked that short series.

Ishida to Asakura

Synopsis:
Anime adaptation of the surreal gag manga about two high school boys, Ishida and Asakura.

Opinion:
After watching the preview for this one, I think that it looks like it... might be funny, but I also have suspicions that it'll be really bad. I have no idea how it'll turn out, but I guess I'll give it a chance before I make any final judgments on it.

Senyuu

Synopsis:
Satan Rchimedes returns to the earth after being sealed for one thousand years by a hero. The King tries to seal Satan once again by dispatching descendants of the hero. However, it's troublesome to find the genuine descendants, the king chooses 75 hero-like people. This is an adventure of Alba, the hero No.45, and an his monitoring fighter Ross.

Opinion:
If this series was longer than 5 minutes per episode and had better animation, it probably would have been higher on the list. Normally a plot like this would be a must watch, but this being a short series, I'm not too sure.

GJ-bu

Synopsis:
TV anime adaptation of the GJ-bu moe light novel series, dubbed as the "first four-panel novel", where each story is only four pages long with illustrations.

Opinion:
I know absolutely nothing about this, except that it's supposed to be moe, so I really can't say anything at the moment.

So that's all the shows I'm considering at the moment, I'll update this post whenever new information about GJ-bu and Ishida to Asakura comes out.  Also,  leave a comment about what you're watching next season, I'd really like to know!

Update 1/5/12:
Changed opinion and ranking of Ishida to Asakura
