Summer 2012 Watch List

So, after watching the first couple of episodes of several series, I've finally established my watch list. Unfortunately, Arve Rezzle and Blood Lad were either delayed or falsely announced, so needless to say I can not watch them. Anyway, here is my watch list for the summer 2012 anime season:

New Series:

Binbougami ga! - Humorous, silly, it's a fun watch

Campione! - Interesting action, and er...there's lots of kiss scenes, a little too many in fact.

Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - As I expected, this show is really weird. I mean, insanely weird. In the first episode I saw a wheat product committing a bloody suicide. What am I talking about? Why don't you go watch it and see for yourself :D

Joshiraku - It's a pretty simple comedy, but it does a good job at making me laugh.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate - There seems to be more than meets the eye with this series, it seems like a silly, romantic slice of life story, but there's more to it than that. Some weird drama is happening on the side, I just wish they would focus on it a bit more.

Kokoro Connect - It seems each character in this series has an individual story to tell. There's some drama going on behind the scenes of their happy go lucky school lives, and because of the body swapping situation they're each put in, they each become acquainted with each other's problems. It's really good, and I'm quite surprised at how good this show is.

Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! - Surprisingly, this show isn't half bad, I'm kind of pissed at the mysterious sister for not revealing herself, and the developments seem to move a little bit too fast, but the comedy's good, the characters are good, and the drama is okay. There really isn't a reason for me to drop it.

La storia della Arcana Famiglia - Apart from the first episode, there hasn't been much action. There has been some drama though, and some general silliness. Hoping it gets better.

Moyashimon Returns - As expected, I'm learning about all the wonderful things microbes can do for Japanese cuisine. The microbes are also really cute, and the characters are all likable.

Natsuyuki Rendezvous - It's a beautiful romance series, a woman who can't let go of her lost husband, the spirit of her deceased husband who still clings to her desperately, and a man seeking the woman's companionship. It can be really sad at times, I've teared up watching this I don't know how many times.

Rinne no Lagrange Season 2 - I'm liking all the new drama that's taking place. Lan's brother seems like a jerk, and Villagulio (forgive me if the spellings not correct) seems like not too bad a guy this season. It can get silly at times, but it's a good watch.

Sword Art Online - Wow, this show is amazing. Beautiful animation, great characters, great action, and tear jerking drama. It is, perhaps, the best show of the season.

Tari Tari - It's cute, I love the characters, and the music is really nice. Watching this always seems to put me in a good mood.

Yuru Yuri♪♪ - A good continuation of the first season, I love the new opening and ending themes.

Ongoing Series from Previous Seasons:

Accel World - Introducing the new antagonist really added to the show's epicness factor lol

Eureka Seven AO - Crazy revelations, deaths, drama, wow, this show is getting better each week it seems.

Hyouka - The series, after all this time, has finally, FINALLY become more interesting, though it seems to lean more toward slice of life than mystery, that's fine by me, as long as it keeps me entertained.

Kuroko no Basket - The only sports show I can actually enjoy, it keeps me on the edge of my seat, and the characters are extremely likable.

Sket Dance - I already said how much I love this series and how much it makes me laugh, it's needless to say, I love it.

Uchuu Kyoudai - More drama, character development, and perhaps the best new opening song of the season, this show is making really great progress.

My Thoughts on the Spring 2012 Anime

The spring anime season has finally come to a close, and with that, many anime have ended while a few continue into next season. What were the best and worst series this season? Well, I'll give you my thoughts on that, at least, on the shows I watched this season.

Ongoing Anime:

Accel World

This show is very much entertaining. It's another one of those shows that has a web game and such, however, this isn't about the fate of the world through the game or anything like that. Still, it's pretty interesting, has good action, great characters, and is the only show I've ever seen with a fat protagonist, haha. It's definitely worth a watch.

Eureka Seven AO

This is a pretty interesting sequel to Eureka Seven. It keeps me watching every episode because there are so many unanswered questions, and the action is good as well. I'll keep on watching this, it's kind of got me addicted.

This show is mediocre, while the animation is some of the best I've ever seen, the story is dull, even boring at times. I'll just continue watching this for the animation, because I don't know if this'll ever get any better.

Kuroko no Basket

This is probably the best sports anime I've ever seen, probably because I don't usually watch sports series. Either way, this show manages to entertain pretty well, it's got a good combination of suspense and good characters. I'm looking forward to watching more.

Sket Dance

It's been about a year since Sket Dance first premiered, and as always, they introduced new characters this season, and have managed to keep me laughing every episode. I'll definitely continue watching this show.

Uchuu Kyoudai

It's a story about two brothers who dreamed of becoming astronauts as children. While one has already made his dream come true, the older brother, Mutta, struggles as he works toward becoming one. It's really good, the characters are good, and I can't help but love Mutta, he's just so lovable and silly.

Completed Anime:

Fate/Zero 2

The series of Fate/Zero came to a conclusion this season with the revealing of Kiritsugu's past and the results of the Holy Grail War. This show has a lot of dialogue, but the action and animation make up for it. It was really entertaining, a little sad at times, and sometimes a little confusing. However, this series was definitely good, and is worth a watch.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san

This show was really, really weird, and not the good kind of weird. It has its moments where it can be funny, but the rest of the time this show is just annoying.

Kimi to Boku 2

This show continues to be a rather subtle romance and slice of life series. It's pretty nice, and manages to leave me in a good mood after I watch it.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? Of the Dead

The second season of zombies, guys in dresses, magical girls, vampire ninjas, and a necromancer. Wow, this show was crazy, but it was also very funny.

Moretsu Pirates

I didn't think space pirates could ever be boring, but somehow, this show managed to do that. The show definitely gets more exciting towards the end, but it kind of left me wondering why they didn't make it better sooner. The characters were all good, but the story progression was extremely slow, and it wasn't very interesting.

Natsuiro Kiseki

This was a simple show about four friends, with one moving away, trying to make the best out of their final summer vacation together.

Recorder to Randoseru

It's a short, two minute per episode, series about an elementary school boy with the appearance of an adult, and his older sister who has the appearance of an elementary schooler. It was cute, not much to say about it because it was a short series, though.

Sakamichi no Apollon

This was probably the best show of the season, it's a great slice of life series about a bunch of friends and their passion for jazz music. There's a little romance and some drama, but you really grow fond of the characters while watching their ups and downs and everything coming together in the end. The music was great, the story was great, the animation was great, the characters were great, everything about this show was great.

Another zombie show, however, Sankarea was definitely more serious. It has a good balance of comedy, drama, a little bit of horror, and some fanservice. The characters were all good and unique, but Rea was definitely the star of the show. It's really interesting and definitely a great watch.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

I never thought a ghost character could be annoying, but then I met Yuuko. At first, she was alright, a little silly, even a little cute. However, in the later episodes she becomes clingy and jealous, and you find out she's really selfish. The other characters are pretty good, Kirie being my personal favorite. The show itself is good, but wow, Yuuko was an annoying character.

It's a show about aliens and fishing. Yeah, weird, but in a good way. It was a lot of fun, and the characters were all interesting. It was kind of random, but it was a lot of fun.

This gets the award for the show that pissed me off the most this season. I'm not saying it was bad (well, actually I am), but everything that happened in the show in general just made me angry. It has great action and a lot of drama, almost too much. Nothing good ever really happened after the first few episodes. Everything just got worse and worse for the characters as the story went along. The ending for this show was decent though.
